Surgery

When your pet needs surgery, you need to find a practice that takes every safety and precaution when it comes to treating your beloved companion.  Your pet may need to undergo surgery for any number of reasons; from a routine spay and neuter, or to a more advanced surgery such as a foreign body removal or tumor removal. Our staff at Seneca Animal Hospital are thoroughly trained and takes measures during every step to ensure your pet is safe and has a successful recovery.

The modern amenities and pristine conditions of our surgical room enable our staff to function at their very best. We do everything in our power to ensure all lab work and pre-surgical exams are completed in a timely manner,  prior to surgery. Our staff helps and supports your pet so they feel more comfortable while they are in our care.  We also make recheck or follow-up appointments with each of our clients,  so we can assess your pet post surgery.

You can expect our staff's complete attention when your pet is here for surgery. Veterinary surgery often requires multiple professionals working together. Our staff ensures that your pet is attended to very closely during surgery, and while under anesthesia. Your pet's temperature, IV fluids, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and heart rate levels are constantly monitored  by our licensed veterinary technicians.

Before surgery, our doctors will perform a pre-surgical exam on your pet.  Pre-anesthetic blood work is completed to ensure that your pet can metabolize the anesthetic safely.  It also confirms that all body organs are functioning properly and clotting factors are normal,  in order to undergo surgery. After the surgery is completed, we will dispense an analgesic (pain relieving medication) specific to your pet's size, breed, and condition. It's Seneca Animal Hospital’s objective to give you all the advice you need to properly care for your pet once they return home for their recovery.

Our goal at Seneca Animal Hospital is to answer any questions or concerns that you may have about a surgery or procedure that your pet needs. We want  our clients to feel comfortable knowing that every precaution is taken to ensure the safety of their pet while under anesthesia.
